Scotland: Vague and Obscure No 2

Colts or Clots?

Vague and obscure: the reasons for David Longmuir CEO at the Scottish League, bringing up this dead duck once again might appear so to many. Did he decide, off his own back, to re-introduce this initiative? Was he encouraged, and if so, who did the pushing?

What possessed him?

What possessed him?

Although the press use the term ‘Old Firm’, I’ve a feeling that Celtic have had no part to play in the suggestion.

Which leaves Green’s team, and perhaps Doncaster and Regan. Or maybe the telly companies.

Here is the text of the communication sent to all 30 Scottish League clubs.

Longmuir has certainly researched well to back up his plans. He writes of colt sides playing within the league structure “The concept has been in place in both the Italian and Spanish leagues for over 20 seasons, with Barcelona, Real Madrid and both Milan clubs having colt sides’. Apart from……… they haven’t. Nor does any nation have ‘colt’ teams playing within their system because the parent club has aspirations to play within another league system.

One day on from Longmuir’s proposal, and it seems to have very few supporters: yet he’s one of the leaders of the game in our nation.
